Spring! It’s without a doubt one of our favourite seasons, the weather starts to get warmer, days begin to get longer and flowers bloom, blessing us with natures true beauty. With all the loveliness that comes with spring, it’s very easy to see why it’s becoming such a popular season to tie the knot.
Gone are the days when summer was considered ‘wedding season’, spring has firmly taken its place as the hottest time of the year to get married. From wild florals to Al Fresco ceremonies, we take a look at the spring trends we are loving this year and next.
1. Pastel Palettes
There are certain colours that lend themselves perfectly to each season, and pastel tones are exactly what you need for spring. Say goodbye to blush pink, it’s become far too common in weddings and in our opinion is somewhat obsolete, and welcome beautiful pastels. Get playful with shades of lilac and pale blue, muted greens like pistachio and sage or buttercup yellows. Add elements of greenery and of the season florals to tie the look together, creating a look that’s both girly, romantic and classic.
2. Fresh Fruit
Along with blooming florals and vibrant greenery, spring brings with it an abundance of seasonal produce. It’s time to ditch the birdcages and mason jars, and embrace everything spring has to offer, that includes fresh, seasonal fruit!
Add fresh fruit such as lemons, apricots and grapefruit to your centrepieces, bringing a fresh and easy feel to your spring wedding table décor. To create a full sensory experience for your guests, we suggest creating a seasonal, locally sourced menu with custom cocktails to match!
3. Go Al Fresco
Having a spring wedding is the perfect time to take to the great outdoors, whether you decide to have your ceremony, reception or both Al Fresco, we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed, and neither will your guests.
Choosing an outdoor wedding ceremony makes for an incredible, natural backdrop, that, when accompanied with carefully selected décor creates a truly unique place to say “I do!”. As the spring days and nights start to get warmer, for a truly memorable wedding reception, why not select an open-air tent or marquee, for a romantic evening under the stars. And just in case the heavens open up, why not have umbrellas on hand for your guests to pick up and continue to dance the night away.
4. Natural & Muted Bridesmaids Dresses
Whilst the bride will forever be the belle of the ball on her wedding day, the days of ugly bridesmaid dressers are long gone. Simply, yet elegant bridesmaid dresses are an effortless way to bring some stunning colour into your spring wedding and tie the whole look together. Think soft, flowing fabrics in neutral tones or muted shades of lilac, blue or green to add to the relaxed vibe of a spring wedding.
5. Feminine Florals
A spring wedding wouldn’t feel quite right without a few florals, and we don’t just mean in your bouquet! In the world of fashion florals are HUGE every spring, and the same goes for wedding dresses. You can opt for traditional white or ivory, with intricate floral lace detailing, or go modern with pastel, springtime patterns.
Incorporate spring flowers into your wedding hair with delicate headbands and clips, as well as centrepieces, bouquets and your place settings. We suggest experimenting with floral crockery or adding spring flowers in your napkins and name cards.
If you’re looking for an even bigger way to make a statement at your spring wedding, choose natural, overflowing floral displays adorned with seasonal flowers such as daisies, lily of the valley or bluebells. We love the natural look, so steer clear of structured floral walls or arches that look too ‘put together’ and go for wild and wispy!
